Town was settled in 1630 and became a separate town known as “The Village” in 1688 before being renamed Newton in 1691. The town developed as an agrarian community, with a robust farming economy that gradually evolved into a small industrial hub during the 18th and 19th centuries. The arrival of the Boston and Worcester Railroad in the 1830s spurred growth and connected Newton to larger markets, facilitating the development of mills and factories. By the late 19th century, the town had transformed into a suburban enclave for The Big Cities elite, known for its beautiful estates and tree-lined streets. This shift was partly driven by the development of the streetcar system, which made commuting to the city more feasible and attracted affluent residents seeking a more rural lifestyle.

Today, the town is a thriving suburban city located just west of the big city, known for its high quality of life, excellent schools, and diverse community. With a population of over 88,000 residents, Newton is often referred to as “The little City” due to its abundance of green spaces and well-preserved historic neighborhoods. The city is composed of thirteen distinct villages, each with its own unique character and charm, contributing to the community’s vibrant and inclusive atmosphere. Newton is recognized for its top-tier public education system,
